Inspiring Collaboration at LASID 2025 – Buenos Aires

We were delighted to take part in LASID 2025 in Buenos Aires in October, where we hosted an educational nursing programme focused on advancing immunology nursing practice and strengthening international collaboration.

INGID are enormously grateful to Maria Ángeles Escobar Palazón (Chair of the Spanish Immunology Nurses Group) who travelled from Spain to assist INGID with our programme.

The programme featured sessions, including:

  • The Role of the Nurse Specialist in Immunology – presented by Advanced Nurse Practitioner -Maria Ángeles Escobar Palazón
  • IVIG and SCIG Workshops – presented by Maria Ángeles Escobar Palazón
  • Nursing Interventions – presented by Patricia Luck
  • Introduction to HAE Diagnosis, Care, and Case Studies – presented by Rosalind Fisher
  • Basic Immunology – presented by Dr Alberto Alfaro (Argentina)

A key goal for INGID at this year’s conference was to connect with nurses from across South America to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and improve care for patients living with immunodeficiencies. To support meaningful engagement, we incorporated AI-powered translation tools for English presentations, and Maria delivered her sessions entirely in Spanish ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all participants.

The conference was a great success, with 11 nurses attending in person and 29 nurses joining online. The sessions sparked valuable discussions, new professional relationships, and exciting opportunities for collaboration. Many of the participating nurses have also expressed interest in joining INGID, further expanding our international nursing network.

We are grateful to all our speakers, attendees, and especially to the organisers of LASID who helped make this event such a success and we look forward to continuing our shared mission of improving care for patients with immunodeficiencies around the world.
