Introduction
This report provides a summary of the 22nd Annual scientific conference Kenya pediatric nurses chapter, highlighting key themes, insights from my presentations, participant feedback, and questions.

  • The conference started on 27th August with registration, the scientific committee welcomed the nurses.
  • There was an official opening of the ceremony by the chair and executive committee.
  • There were presentations presented within the themes.
  • The overall themes included;
    1. Health systems strengthening for child well-being.
    2. Social economic determinants of child health community engagement and policy and clinical case studies and case report advocacy.
    3. Digital health and innovations on pediatric and neonatal health, practice development learning congress.
    4. Best practice clinical case studies and case reports.
    5. Other presentations from nurses or partners.

Summary of my presentation 

Session title: Primary Immunodeficiency. (PID)

Speaker: Caroline Mwaniki

Key take away, questions and feedback from the participants.

  1. Prognosis concerns of PID?
  2.  Does a patient with PID get cured?
  3. Curative management of PID?
  4. The data on patients with inborn errors of immunity should be updated and reported.
  5. Why is Immunoglobulin so expensive?
  6. Is the galactosemia among newborns an inborn error of immunity?
  7. Does the patient outgrow the PID?
  8. Are Juvenile arthritis immune errors of immunity?
  9. Some nurses had cases of children with signs and symptoms of PIDs but diagnostic tests are a big challenge.
  10. Future contact of Jeffrey Modell Foundation (JMF).

Opportunities within the conference:

  • Gained knowledge.
  • Shared knowledge.
  • Strive to achieve stronger academic specialization in various nursing health fields and research, public findings, policy support.
  •  Seek funding for research and growth nursing.

Recommendations & next steps

Follow-up actions:

  • Share reports with stakeholder, sponsors.
  • Address any other questions in upcoming meetings or webinars.
  • Consider hosting a follow-up workshop focused on emerging issues raised.
  • Continuous education, presentation within the department, nurses within the hospitals and sharing knowledge.

Improvements for Future Conferences:

  • Extend Q&A sessions.
  • Include more interactive components.
  • Provide session recordings, photos and transcripts.

Conclusion
The scientific conference offered valuable insights and sparked important discussions across disciplines. There was engagement with the ideas and questions raised. Share with more nurses.
