INGID News June 2023

African Society for Immunodeficiencies Conference June 2023

The 8th biannual ASID conference was held in Casablanca, Morocco from the 14th to 18th of June. It was a very interesting program with many traditional shows in between. Throughout the conference there was a very vibrant, motivated and enthusiastic atmosphere. INGID was invited to organize a program for nurses on Thursday 15th, which was very well received. The program started with a talk on Transition given by Liz Davis, followed by Prof. Véronique de Goumoëns on Family Interventions. The morning ended with a short presentation of two sponsored nurses from Morocco on their daily practice and was followed by a general introduction and discussion among the whole group. In the afternoon there was a workshop on SCIG push by Mary-Louise Daly and Patricia Luck. The participating nurses showed a high interest on the topics presented as well as on becoming an INGID member. INGIDs participation at ASID was possible thanks to the generous sponsoring of CSL Behring.

Education and Research News

Research Group

We are very excited that Professor Ann Gardulf who many of you know, is going to be our new Director of Research. Ann has extensive knowledge and experience of immunodeficiencies and treatments, and her nursing research in the field is vast. Ann was one of the founder members of INGID and she has been instrumental in shaping the success and growth of the organisation.

We plan to start laying the groundwork for the Research Group over the next 6 to 12 months with our first projects starting in 2024 and we are confident that Ann’s skills and experience will be a great asset to the development of it, Patricia Luck and Julia Hews-Girard will be working closely with Ann. Several members have expressed interest in being part of this group and we will keep you all posted…
