I have worked as a senior specialist nurse in immunology for 11 years and am part of a nationally and internationally recognised team delivering high quality services for patients with PID, whilst also taking part in extensive research and educational activities.

Patricia Luck – Vice-President of INGID

I work as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) at the University-Children’s Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland in the field of immunology and stem cell transplant. I work with pediatric patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEI) such as: SCID, CGD, Microdeletion 22q11, neutropenia, familial Mediterranean fever and patients undergoing SCT. The main focus lies on instructing the families and helping them to learn the illness management and integrate it to their daily family life. In my PhD thesis I work on a research project aiming to develop a psycho-educational nursing intervention supporting parents after their newborn was diagnosed with an IEI in national newborn screening. It is an exploratory sequential mixed methods design.

Lisa Smith – Treasurer

I am the Lead Immunology Nurse at North Bristol NHS Trust . I have worked in both Respiratory and Haematology before specialising in Immunology in 2006. I lead a team of specialist nurses caring for adult patients with immune deficiencies and hereditary angioedema.

Mary-Louise Daly – Board Member
Member of INGID since 2010. Secretary of INGID from 2010 – 2016. I am Irish and have been living in Basel since 2007. I trained in Germany and worked for 10 years in the NHS, UK before moving to Switzerland. My qualifications include registered Nurse, MA (Medical Anthropology), MSc (Anal Chemistry). I work as an advanced practice nurse at the University Hospital Basel, rheumatology department since 2018, mainly with adolescents. I am a member of the board of the University Center for Immunology, and have been involved in developing a German-speaking immunology nurse network, involving nurses from Germany and Switzerland.

Lucy Gossens RN, MSc

My main focus is taking care for patients with an immunodeficiency, with special attention to administering immoglobulins and transition to adult care. Besides I am working on a hospital-wide project for transition in care. We made a hospital-wide transition protocol and did the implementation.

Riet Strik-Albers, RN, Nurse Practitioner
Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Immunology and Infectious diseases at Amalia Children’s hospital, Radboud university medical center, Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
My main focus is taking care for children with antibody deficiencies (with special attention to administering immunoglobulins) and children with infectious diseases, like hiv and OPAT.

Karlien Claes
Advanced Nurse Pediatric Immunology at the University of Ghent in the team of Prof. Dr. Filomeen Haerynck. With a main focus on needs of children, adolescents and young adults with primary immune disorders and coordinating several projects within their research team.
Before I worked for 21 years as a Rheumatology nurse for adults and children with also a national commitment as president of the Belgian Health Professionals in Rheumatology until September 2022. Putting together an educational package for immunology nurses is a very nice challenge. A challenge I want to work on, together with you.
